The WCSO, in partnership with the WC Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Association and AT&T Pioneers, are excited to host the 2024 Christmas in July – Backpack Giveaway again this summer as we gear up for the new school year.

On Saturday, July 27^th from 10:00AM – 1:00PM at The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (2680 E 9th St, Reno, NV 89512), we will be convening over 1000 students and families for this fun carnival-filled day and school supply giveaway. This event is free to all families in need. Students from pre-kindergarten through high school are welcome and distribution will be first come, first serve. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian; guardians must be accompanied by their student.

Help us build deeper bonds with those that we serve and join us as a volunteer! We need assistance as early as 7am and as late as 3:00p for set up/breakdown, check-in, activity stations, and in many other roles. Comp time offered. Families and friends are welcome to volunteer with you, kids 12 and older preferred.

Consider sharing this event with local students through your contacts, schools, volunteer groups, and congregations.  We are looking to help as many students as possible.

The spirit of giving knows no season at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. Our Christmas in July program reaches out to children in need, distributing backpacks filled with school supplies and hygiene items. In the summer of 2023, we were able to extend our support to 1,500 underprivileged children, ensuring they are equipped for the school year ahead.
